We’re on the lookout for a SW Chip Dumper to control the operations of Softwood BOC plant from BOC Express Dumper to BOC Chip Pile and refuel plant and ad hoc vehicles with diesel.

 

As a SW Chip Dumper, you will be responsible for:

  • Perform pre-operational checks and safely start up and shut down plant machinery, using physical inspections, CCTV and SCADA monitors to confirm that the plant is safe and ready for operation.
  • Monitor and control chip feeding and conveying operations to maintain continuous chip flow, prevent blockages and minimise chip spillages.
  • Test, monitor and manage the metal detector, ensuring it is functional before start-up and that detected ferrous material is safely removed to prevent equipment damage and chip contamination.
  • Monitor plant conditions and equipment performance through field inspections, CCTV and SCADA, identifying abnormal or emergency conditions and taking appropriate corrective action in accordance with BOPs.
  • Maintain plant availability by responding to and clearing chip blockages and removing foreign material, including stones, wood and slithers, from conveyor and scalper systems.
  • Ensure optimum plant efficiency and chip supply, including monitoring chip stacking, applying FIFO principles and ensuring continuous supply and efficient truck turnaround times.
  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ requirements by identifying and mitigating risks, reporting unsafe conditions and near misses, conducting BBS observations, managing environmental impacts and maintaining 5S standards.
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with operational and maintenance teams, reporting plant abnormalities, maintenance requirements and production impacts, while completing SAP notifications and required operational records.

 

What are we looking for?

 

  • Matric (Grade 12) with Math’s and Physical Science or an N3 in Pulp and Paper?
  • 6 months experience in the Woodyard will be advantages.
